At OneHire, the mission for Outplacement is quite simple…..”Provide value without compromising quality.”  It is our goal to provide the best services possible and take a more personal approach with candidates, whether they have 1 year or 25 years of service.  Additionally, we understand the employers’ desire to quickly transition the candidate in order to reduce the timeframe of the unemployment claim.  That being said, in most cases, the initial process can be completed in several days. However, it is recommended that the Interview Skills be a separate session to ensure that the resume is complete and that the candidate has had adequate time to focus and reduce the initial anxiety and shock related to the separation.  Ongoing support (i.e. 3 months, 6 months, etc) can be quoted in the package or billed hourly, should you want to provide this option.

Depending on the scope of your needs, outplacement services can be packaged for individuals or larger groups, and custom tailored depending on what is to be provided.  Larger Group sessions can be facilitated on-site or off-site and will typically involve multiple consultants to expedite the process.

Typical sessions include the following:

Introduction:

  • Introduce the process and set the expectations
  • Assess where the candidate feels they need the most help
  • Provide emotional support, discuss financial considerations, and Listen

Resume and Reference Review/Development:

  • 1:1 conversation regarding job responsibilities, skills, accomplishments, etc.
  • Confirmation that stated job responsibilities (above) match the current resume content (assuming one already exists)
  • Provide/discuss alternate formats (i.e. functional vs. chronological –or- bullet point vs. paragraph)
  • Ensure that resume verbiage quantifies accomplishments and defines performance
  • Encourage/discuss the need for alternate versions, depending on the nature of the candidate’s position.

Job Search Skills:

  • Review the basics (Monster, CareerBuilder, Company Websites, Recruiters)
  • Networking:  Introduce and educate
  • Provide immediate connections/contacts by enforcing the candidate(s) to join my various networks during the process
  • Provide Excel based job search spreadsheet to track progress
  • Review how to follow up (phone calls, emails, thank you notes, etc)

Interview Skills:

  • Provide preparation and coaching for interviews via mock phone screens and face-to-face interviews
